It’s been my dream for a very long time to become flexible and fit again so around 9 months ago I started trying aerial yoga. It was basically the only sport I could do without passing out during the session. I really wanted to start embracing the fitness lifestyle since it is such a big trend nowadays and I really do believe in it. I really think being fit and living healthy is a very big part in life which people sometimes completely neglect. The Importance of a healthy lifestyle is so big !
After a month of aerial yoga I switched to aerial silks which completely changed the fitness game for me. The main reason I transitioned from aerial yoga to aerial silks was the fact that I really didn’t have any strength and it pissed me off. I wanted to be able to do more. Ever since I started doing aerial silks, going to the studio and feeling sore became an obsession of mine. Embracing the fitness lifestyle has transformed my life completely!
After around 2-3 months of aerial silks I realized I did gain a lot of strength and muscles so I wanted to try pole dancing and aerial hoop as well. Both were such a pain when I started… still are sometimes. However, I am obsessed… much more to pole than aerial hoop I must say. In the studio which I work out at I’ve got some really talented and fun teachers so it makes the whole experience a hell lot better. I can feel muscles which I never felt before and do insane things which I would have watched others do which I never thought I would be able to do. My body needs much more energy now so it means that I eat much more than before. I literally wake up hungry every morning and no I really don’t regret embracing the fitness lifestyle. It has done wonders!
This post isn’t meant to brag about how amazing I am now .. I wanted to take it to another place. I want to talk about the advantages and importance of embracing the fitness lifestyle at least from my perceptive. I was never someone who worked out a lot and I, like many others have had my fat or slightly chubbier phases in life. I never understood people who were obsessed with working out until I actually started doing it myself.
Let’s get a few things clear here :
- Starting is the hardest step.
Getting yourself into the mindset to go work out, sweat and not feel comfortable because you aren’t fit yet is really difficult but motivate yourself ! Believe me once you push yourself through the first step it will be easier.
- Results vary per person
I will give pole dancing as an example, for some girls it might take 6 months to accomplish certain poses and for me it would take me a year. So don’t compare yourself and your results with others, everyone has their own pace and genetics which play a big role too.
- Time is Made
You make your own time to do things which you love and think are important. Working out should be one of those things which you make time for. The ‘ I don’t have time’ excuse isn’t acceptable anymore. I usually finish work and go work out for 2-3 hours before coming back home, yes I do come back home later but I feel great about it.
So What are the Advantages of embracing the fitness lifestyle ?
- Decreased levels of stress
- Boosts your immune system
- Strengthens your heart muscles and lowers your blood pressure thus decreasing chances of heart diseases and strokes
- Helps prevent back pains by strengthening muscles – It cured my back pains !!
- Increases self esteem and self confidence
- Better sleep
- Boosts happiness levels
So get started ! It will change your life completely ! Remember that time is made, so make some time for some physical exercise because at the end of the day it isn’t for anyone else but yourself. There is no reason why you shouldn’t free up an hour of your day purely for yourself.
